Our Legacy

About the History of the College

The College of Physiotherapy was a long-standing dream of our Chairman Prof. A. Kanagaraj MA, MPhil, PhD. He had been a great Philanthropist, Rotarian, and a long-time serving President of the Lions Club. During his tenure, he had observed many children who were mentally challenged, physically disabled, or handicapped suffering from a lack of proper Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation services in the remote pockets of Tiruvallur district.

This gave the immediate impetus to start a full-fledged Physiotherapy College to provide quality Physiotherapy services and an excellent opportunity for budding youngsters to learn. Thus, the Bachelor of Physiotherapy (4 ½ years) was established under the name and style of Jaya College of Paramedical Sciences, College of Physiotherapy within the ambit of the Jaya Arts & Science College Campus.

Strategic Location

Strategically located adjacent to Nemilicherry Railway station & abutting the C.T.H Road to provide easy access for all patients & students from remote corners of Tiruvallur district.

Sanctions & Affiliation

15.12.1998: State Government of Tamil Nadu sanctioned the course vide G.O MS No.671.
Year 2000: The T.N. Dr. MGR Medical University approved and affiliated the college.
Minority Status: Accorded Linguistic Minority Status by the State and Central governments.
IAP Approval: Approved by the Indian Association of Physiotherapists, Delhi.
Sanctioned Strength: Fifty (50) students per batch.

The Advisory Board

Planned the functioning of the college, selected faculty members for recruitment, scheduled clinical postings, monitored evaluations, and organized public health awareness camps.

6-Month Internship Training

With approval from the Directorate of Medical Education, students undergo their internship training at the following premier Government Hospitals:

These high-occupancy hospitals provide individual handling opportunities and mentorship under senior field experts.

Master of Physiotherapy (MPT)

Addressing demand from our alumni and understanding the postgraduate academic need, our Chairman & Secretary launched the MPT Course in 2013. The T.N. Dr. MGR Medical University approved four branches:

The college regularly conducts Continuing Professional Education (CPE) programs with veteran clinicians, senior physiotherapists, leading researchers, sports therapists, and academicians to share advanced skill sets.
